We have an excellent exaple up for vote at this. Here are the notes that accompany the New release of "This Island Earth" "Added cover scans, SRP, studios, disc info, credits and actors from profile 14381-42682." This includes the grandfathered (uncredited) from the Original Image title. The (uncredited) needs to be documented for this release. But users are asleep at the switch. I plan to correct this immediately upon approval.

You like Kevin's sugestion?
FWIW, I like it too. While it will factually still be possible to contribute undocumented data for new profiles, it will make it easier to change it to the correct data.

As stated before, IMDb is a valid source for documentation. It's just the copying of data that is not allowed. Of course IMDb can't be the ultimate documentation and should most often not be the only documentation.

Doesn't the contribution page say "(optional)" by the contribution notes box?
Shouldn't that be taken off by IVS?

Try Contributing without putting anything in the box, and then there are the RULES.

yes there are rules. but the program itself should not contradict those rules. and from what I see, there are a lot of submissions that come through without any notes.
are you actually arguing that the "optional" should not be removed?

So how do they get fixed then? ...or do they basically not?

They get fixed when Ken decides to fix them.

It is something that needs to be pointed out to Ken. He made the field mandatory but forgot to remove the (optional) tag. It happens.
The only 'fix' we have is the voters. We need to make sure that we don't vote 'yes' on contributions without documentation. If we do that, then we have effectively solved the problem on our end.
