Crew and Cast

• First Names: The first word of the name always goes into the First Name field, even if that name happens to be a last name. Exception: See Honorifics below.
• Last Names: If the name consists of more than one word, the last word goes into the Last Name field. Exception: See Stage Names and Suffixes below.
• Middle Names: Any remaining words go into the Middle Name field.
• Individual initials, when indicated with a period after each initial (J.T. Walsh), always count as separate words, even if written together.
• Individual initials, without a period after each initial (JT Walsh), always count as a single word.
• Nicknames: If an person's credited name includes a nickname, highlighted by ", ' or ( ), list it in the middle name field. For example John "JS" Smith, John 'JS' Smith or John (JS) Smith
• Connecting Articles: Articles and prepositions (such as de, de la, di, von) are entered in the appropriate name field along with the name that they precede. Use the film credits to determine whether the actor capitalizes this article or not.
• Honorifics: If the person's name includes an Honorary title, for example Captain, Reverend, Sir (Sir John Gielgud) the first two words go in the first name field.
• Stage Names: If a person's name is only a stage name enter it entirely in the first name field. Examples are Cedric the Entertainer, Queen Latifah & Larry the Cable Guy.
• Suffixes: If the person's name includes a last name suffix, such as Jr., Sr., S.J., or Roman Numeral (Robert Downey, Jr.), the last two words go into the last name field. Use the punctuation shown in the credits. Suffixes indicating membership in a professional organisation are not to be entered.

Take Crew Credits from the film credits only; list names exactly as they are in the credits. Exception: If the credit information is either entirely capitalizedin upper or lower case, use standard capitalization rules instead.

Group names of crew members together within each role available and list in exactly the same order credited. The table below gives each of the crew roles available within DVD Profiler. For each category, include only those people credited with the roles listed in the "Film Credits to Include" column. If someone is not credited with one of these roles, do not include them in the Crew section.

Do not list actors or crew who appear only in special features or whose scenes were deleted, unless they remain within the main feature's credits.

Do NOT use IMDb style Roman Numerals to distinguish between crew members or actors using the same name

Crew

Take Crew Credits from the film credits only; list names exactly as they are credited, even if they appear to be joke credits.

Group names of crew members together within each role available and list in exactly the same order credited. The table below gives each of the crew roles available within DVD Profiler. For each category, include only those people credited with the roles listed in the "Credited As" column. If someone is not credited with one of these roles, do not include them in the Crew section.

Do not list any location, unit, or restoration crew members.

Enter only individual names in the crew credits; do not include company names.

Do not contribute uncredited crew members, as they can not be identified with (uncredited) as they are in the cast section. If you wish to see these uncredited crew members in your local database you can do so, but do not include them in contributions to the main database.

Cast

For the purposes of this section we define "standard" film credits as those where all credited actors involved are listed together in a single section at the end of the film - defined here as the "end credits". The section details both the actor's Name and the Role that they played in the film. The credits may be listed "in order of appearance", "alphabetical order" or in an order of importance decided by the filmmakers. Some actors may be credited a second time in either credits at either the opening or close of the film.If a film has actors listed twice, once in the opening credits and again in the closing credits, the closing credits take precedence.

For any film with standard credits, take the actor information from the end credits only, with names and roles listed exactly as they are in the credits and in exactly the same order credited, even if they appear to be joke credits. Exception: If the credit information is entirely capitalized, use standard capitalization rules instead.

If a film does not have standard credits, use the following rules:

• If a film has actors listed in the opening credits, which are not listed in the end credits, add these to the list in DVD Profiler before those taken from the end credits.
• If a film has no end credits, but does have actors credited elsewhere, enter the actors from those credits.
• If an actor is credited by name but does not have an associated role, you may use another source to identify the role. In each case, list Actor's names and roles (when given) exactly as they are in the credits and in exactly the same order credited.
• If an actor is listed in a profile without (uncredited) appended to the name and they are not listed in the film credits, remove the actor from the profile.

In addition to the above, the following these rules should be followed:

• For animated films, append "(voice)" to the end of the role.Append "(voice)" to the end of any voice-only role, and remove "Voice of" from the beginning of the role name, if applicable.
• If puppeteers are included in the end credits include them and append (puppeteer) at the end of the role.
• If an actor name is only a first name or stage name enter it entirely in the first name field. Examples are Cher, Madonna, Cedric the Entertainer, & Queen Latifah
• If an actor's credited name includes a nickname, highlighted by ",' or ( ), list it in the middle name field. For example John "JS" Smith, John "JS" Smith or John (JS) Smith
• Articles (such as de, de la, di, von) are entered in the appropriate name field along with the name that they precede. Use the film credits to determine whether the actor capitalizes this article or not.
• If stuntperson credits are incorporated within the acting credits (with actors before and after the stuntperson credits), include the stuntperson credits. Stuntperson credits at the end of the acting credits, are not to be included.
• Uncredited actors may be listed in alphabetical order following all credited actors. Append "(uncredited)" to the role. Uncredited actors are not required entries.
• Add uncredited actors to existing profiles only. Uncredited actors must be listed in alphabetical order — first by last name, then by first name — following all credited actors. Append "(uncredited)" to the role. Uncredited actors are not required entries; however, all existing uncredited entries are considered verified and are not to be removed unless proven to be incorrect. Verification of all uncredited actors is required when either adding them to or removing them from any profile. Exception: If uncredited cast were inadvertently allowed into the main db as part of a new profile, and are unsourced, they may be removed.
• Some examples of acceptable means of verification are:
  • Commentary or making-of documentary from the DVD
  • Actor's official website
  • Film reference book(s)
  • Screen capture of actor
  • Time stamp from the movie/episode of the point at which the actor appears

  The above list of sources is neither exhaustive nor definitive. Your contribution notes must include the source of the uncredited cast you are contributing.

• Do not list names of uncredited persons that only appear only in archive footage (e.g. movie clips, TV displays, product placements) in films.
• Do not translate foreign language role names to the language of the locality unless a translation is provided in the film credits.
• Do not include artificial actor entries to act as separators between cast lists, even if they are included in the credits. . (i.e.e.g. "--JAPANESE CAST--", "Shangri-la Hotel")
• If there is a subtitle within the cast credits grouping members of the cast together, include this subtitle in brackets after the role for each cast member within that grouping, giving "Role (Subtitle)" e.g. The Empire Strikes Back — Norman Chancer as Officer (Rebel Troops)

Do not list actors and crew who appear only in special features, or whose scenes were deleted from the main feature, even if they appear in special features.
